Stitched Art Textiles and Multimedia

The Gail Harker Creative Studies Center was established in 1996 on Whidbey Island. We are a learning facility that has well equipped classrooms for different aspects of art and design on paper, stitched textiles and other multi-media.  For 11 years the center in Oak Harbor has been the only City & Guilds Center operating an examination center in North America.  Specialized art, design and stitched textile courses have been taught in affiliation with The London City & Guilds Institute in London, England. We now offer our own variety of short and longer certified courses as well as non-certified courses through our center in Oak Harbor, Washington. Certificate and Diploma courses are available. To date we have had over 1000 students from all parts of North America, including Whidbey Island. Some of our students commute from other parts of the world, including Europe.  Our product is artists who are competent within their chosen area and the level of study undertaken. Some of these people have become national and international award winners. A few of our current and graduate students will be working in residence as well as displaying their work.
