As a child I immigrated to the US from Germany. Growing up in a new country presented various challenges. The biggest one for me, as for most immigrants, was learning a new language. Growing up in Lodi, a small central California town, allowed me to roam free and attempt to understand street names, place names, and names in general. Unlike most children, learning for me was visual rather than verbal associations, which intensified my visual perceptions. I tend to see things more as lines, shapes, and curves—separate from word association. For my photographic subject matter I tend to search out large graphic representations of human industry which balances documentation with an artful purpose. My last projects consisted of documenting the Elwha Dams removal in Washington State for the US National Parks Service, and documenting an 80 million $ hi tech fishing trawler, the first and largest to be built in the US in decades, she is called, "Americas Finest".
