I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration and Design from Western Washington University in 1994, and since then have worked in both disciplines as a freelancer. Currently I work as a fine artist and run a shared studio space and creative venue, Blueschool Arts. I create mixed media acrylic paintings primarily of women, exploring the themes of empowerment and the Divine Feminine. I find a vintage photo or postcard to use as a model, embellishing the painting with antique papers, fabrics, jewelry, bits of nature: anything that catches my fancy. My figures are heavily influenced by classes I've taken in "icon writing" and they have a definite Byzantine feel to them.
