Mixed Media Fiber Artist
Diane
was making string art in the ‘60s when she was supposed to be studying
psychology. She now creates mixed media fiber art pieces for the wall,
when not at her day job as a creativity coach. Her contemporary
abstracts interlace the realities of dreams, relationships, and nature;
layered depths evoke the interplay of what's above and below the
surface.
Drawing on her City and Guilds design training, she transforms
richly hand-dyed fabrics with wax media, stamping, and monoprinting.
Once assembled with collage and stitchery, many are overpainted with
encaustic (pigmented wax). Working in series, she explores themes in
both artquilt and framed formats (Itchy Feet, Peoplescapes, Monkish
Ways, Small Offerings).
