In 2004, a small group of artists founded Whidbey Working Artists as a vehicle for promoting the visual arts and artists of central and north Whidbey Island. Since 2004 WWA has been organizing a tour annually. As the years went by, there was a need to broaden the scope of the tour to include visual artists inhabiting the entire length of the island.
Our mission is to share the arts and artists of Whidbey Island with the broader Pacific Northwest community. Whidbey Island is home to a large, vibrant, diverse community of artists. As an organization we believe that opening our studios offers visitors the opportunity to share in the process of how art is created and have a glimpse of how artists set up and inhabit their creative space. This shared experience between artists and visitors provides a stimulating creative conversation that enhances the arts while also educating and developing an appreciation for the hand-crafted visual arts…from textiles, glass arts and woodwork, to sculpture, photography and 2-dimensional creations.
Come curious, leave inspired!
